Colorado Moves Certain Permits Online
Starting June 1, commercial motor vehicle (CMV) operators and businesses must obtain the following Colorado permits online only through the COOPR permitting system:

✅ 72-Hour Laden Weight Permit
For vehicles over 16,000 lbs empty weight that are not registered or apportioned in Colorado. Permits can be issued for loaded weights up to 80,000 lbs.
✅ Special Fuel Tax Permit
Required for CMVs with 3+ axles or over 26,000 lbs operating in Colorado. Applicants must provide their entry point, destination, and total miles traveled within the state.
✅ 60-Day Harvest Permit
Available for out-of-state operators performing custom harvesting in Colorado. Valid for up to 60 days and limited to two permits per vehicle within a 12-month period.
✅ Temporary Household Goods Mover Permit
Required for certain out-of-state movers transporting household goods between locations within Colorado.
⚠️ To purchase any permit, drivers must create a CDOT account in the COOPR system and provide business information, including their USDOT number.
